My Fitness Journey

For better or worse, crappy airplane coffee and living out of hotel rooms is a big part of my life. I’m from Ohio, live in Chicago, but with a job that takes me to Wall Street, you’ll probably see me in New York just as much. Travel is one my greatest passions and inspirations, however it was also the biggest catalyst for what soon became a very unhealthy lifestyle. Determined to change, I began my fitness journey.

If this is you. If you are ready for change. I'm so glad you are here. You are in the right place!

Time for Change

Grabbing food on-the go, binge eating desserts, and drinking too much wine with clients quickly became my normal. It’s funny how being unhealthy can creep up on you, isn’t it? I honestly didn’t notice my weight gain, the lack of energy, or GI issues for the longest time. I wasn’t struggling with self-image and didn’t see a need for any sort of exercise. Until I did.

Complete and utter exhaustion eventually hit me square in the face. I finally noticed the unhealthy signs (like the fact that my clothes didn’t fit me anymore) and become self-conscious about them. The realization was sinking in that I was unhealthy and change wouldn’t happen by itself. It was time to get serious and make a commitment to exercise.

Taking it to the Next Level

Being a newbie to fitness, I was hesitant to spend money on a gym membership and decided to look for the perfect online fitness guide instead. Long story short, I ended up trying almost every major fitness guide out there. I usually loved them, and learned a lot (I promise you that when I started, I didn’t know the difference between a dumbbell and barbell), but eventually I eventually lost interest or hit a plateau. After 18 months of bouncing between fitness plans, I decided to train myself instead. I became certified as a personal trainer through the American Council of Exercise, and started bodybuilding.

Becoming a certified personal trainer was one of the best decisions I ever made. Those countless hours pouring over anatomy textbooks, between intense training sessions in the gym, ignited an unexpected passion in my life. I fell in love with fitness. Before long, I wasn’t training because I wanted to lose weight before vacation, buy smaller clothes or feel better about myself. I was training because I loved it and couldn’t imagine a lifestyle without it anymore.

Inspiring Others

I started blogging as a way to share my knowledge and perspective with anyone who may feel like I did: frustrated and unsure of where to start, but ready to make change.

My fit guides are designed to be fun, effective, and transportable. Whether you're living out of a suitcase, have a gym membership, or workout in your family room, my guides are for you!

Fitness doesn’t have to be difficult, and it certainly doesn’t have to be boring! I hope you learn to love it as much as I do.
